Childcare when you need it
Not every family needs a full-time nanny. A babysitter provides flexible or occasional care: date nights and evening events, a gap in the week, cover while your regular nanny is away, or extra help when the house is busy.
What a babysitter does
- Cares for your children and keeps them safe and happy while you are away
- Follows your routines for meals, bath time and bedtime
- Plays, reads and keeps children engaged
- Leaves the children’s spaces as they found them
- Lets you know how the time went
Babysitter or nanny?
A babysitter covers flexible or occasional care. A nanny provides ongoing care on a regular schedule and becomes part of your children’s routine. If you are not sure which is right, we will help you decide during your consultation.
- Background checked
- Referenced
- Interviewed in person
Carefully vetted
Babysitters go through the same selection as every Sleeping Angels candidate: each one is background checked, referenced and interviewed in person. Learn more about how placement works.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a nanny and a babysitter?
A nanny provides ongoing childcare on a regular schedule and becomes part of your children’s routine as they grow. A babysitter covers flexible or occasional care — an evening out, a gap in the week or an extra pair of hands.
How does the placement fee work?
Members pay their annual membership and an 8% placement fee on each hire, where a traditional agency typically charges an initiation fee plus 25%. For individual services outside a membership, we explain the fees during your consultation, before any search begins.
What happens if the caregiver is not the right fit?
Tell us as soon as you can. We will talk through what is not working and what you need instead, and support you in finding a better match under the terms of your service or membership. Members have 24/7 support throughout the year.
